Ephraim Sykes

Hamilton; Motown, the Musical; Newsies!; Ailey II (2007-2009)

Ephraim Sykes is from Saint Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program with departmental honors and toured with Ailey II for two years. Since completing his studies at The Ailey School Ephraim has garnered numerous musical theater and television credits.  He was last seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s feature film Detroit, and as Seaweed J. Stubbs on NBC’s Hairspray Live!  His TV/film credits include Marvin in HBO’s “Vinyl”, Woody Allen’s “Crisis in Six Scenes”, Marvel’s Netflix series “Luke Cage”, Leave It on the Floor, Dance Flick, NBC’s “Smash”, and “30 Rock”. Sykes made his Broadway debut in The Little Mermaid and was in the original casts of Hamilton: An American Musical, Memphis, Newsies, and Motown The Musical. He is currently performing  in the Broadway production of Ain't Too Proud To Beg in the role of David Ruffin, for which he received a 2019 Tony Award nomination.
