Tysheena Gibson

Certificate Program Class of 2024

Tysheena Gibson is from Philadelphia, PA where she began dancing at her church, dancing there until she began training at Ms. Carol’s Center for Dance, where she studied various styles such as ballet, jazz, acrobatics, tap, modern, and hip hop. Tysheena later joined their competition team which led her to become a company member. She has been in the Training Company and G2, under Grace Dance Theater. Tysheena attended The School for Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), under the leadership of LeDeva Davis. Throughout her years in high school, Tysheena has been in Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Day Parade, four years consecutively, and was dance captain. She was also awarded the Marian Anderson Award in 2020. After graduating high school, she entered The Ailey School Certificate Program where she had the opportunity to perform works by Alvin Ailey and Mauro Bigonzetti in Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's (AAADT) 2021 and 2022 New York City Center seasons. She also performed in Mr. Ailey's ballet Memoria during AAADT's 2023 City Center season. Tysheena is currently member of the Ailey Student Performance Group (ASPG) and is a 2024 graduate of the Certificate Program.
