Sydney Jones

BFA Program Class of 2024

Sydney Jones began her dance training at Maxine’s Studio of Dance in Vineland, NJ. During her training here, Sydney landed her first lead role as Clara in the Nutcracker. She also attended Regional Dance America and summer intensives including Burklyn Ballet Theater and Boston Ballet. At the start of her high school career, Sydney began her pre-professional training at The School of First State Ballet Theatre, a Vaganova academy located in Wilmington, Delaware. This is where her love for ballet matured. While dancing with this school, Sydney competed and earned accolades at the Youth America Grand Prix, National Ballet Competition, and the World Ballet Competition. At these competitions, she had the privilege of performing choreographic works by Caili Quan and Viktor Plotnikov. She also attended summer programs at Pacific Northwest Ballet and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. As a student in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, Sydney has expanded her experience and knowledge in the world of contemporary and modern dance. She has performed in works by Rebecca Margolick, Maleek Washington, and Roderick George. In addition to her major in Dance, Sydney is pursuing a second major in Economics on the Pre-Law track. With her summer internships working with fashion brands in New York City and her work with Fordham University’s FLASH Magazine, Sydney is excited to see how she can combine her artistic and corporate interests after graduation.
