Sydney Guine

BFA Program Class of 2024

Sydney Guine, originally from Los Angeles, CA, began dancing at the age of 3. She started more serious study of ballet with Nancy Dobbs-Owen and then at the age of 7, during a summer intensive she discovered her love for diverse styles of dance at The Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA). There she received training in African, Dunham, Graham, Flamenco, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Latin Fusion and Horton techniques under the tutelage of Ms. Allen for 11 years. While at DADA, Sydney was honored with opportunities such as performing and taking class in Cuba, as well as dancing at the Kennedy Center, the Apollo, and for Michelle Obama at the White House. Sydney graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 2020. She has attended summer intensives at Orsalina28, DanceItalia, LINES Ballet, The Rock School for Dance Education, Hubbard Street, Limon, and Complexions Ballet, and has had the privilege of working with choreographers such as Hope Boykin, Darrel Moultrie, Maleek Washington, Anthony Burrell,  Otis Salid, Jacob Jonas, and Desmond Richardson. While completing her final year in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program and double majoring in Sociology, Sydney is in her first season with Dallas Black Dance Theater: Encore!
