Sara Thoreson

BFA Program Class of 2024

Sara Thoreson (she/her) was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where she began dancing at the age of three. Training at Expressions School of Performing Arts, Sara actively performed and competed in her community. She subsequently spent two years under the direction of Ashley Lopez and Caitlin Self at Collective Dance Artistry in San Antonio, Texas. She continued her higher education in dance and academics as a student in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance. Sara has had the opportunity to attend various summer intensives, including American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet School (San Francisco and New York), North Carolina School of the Arts, and Jacob Jonas the Company (Orsolina 28). While at The Ailey School, she worked with choreographers Rebecca Margolick, Maleek Washington, and Alexander Anderson. In addition to her BFA in Dance, Sara is pursuing a double major in Sociology and has commenced an MA in Urban Studies. She has interned with the Center for Traditional Music and Dance and gained experience working on the production of the Bessies Awards at Lincoln Center. In her final year of the program, she was an intern with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. She is excited to continue her journey as an artist.
