Julia Lie

BFA Program Class of 2024

Julia Lie grew up in the Pacific Northwest in the Seattle area and started dancing at the age of three. She trained in classical ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, theatre dance, character, flamenco, and tap at the International Ballet Academy. Julia has had the opportunity to perform in Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita, and Sleeping Beauty. She continued her dance education in the Ailey/Fordham BFA program where she is also pursuing a BA in Visual Arts with a focus on graphic design. Julia also works with Jacqueline Green Miller and Preston Miller at The Dance Artist (TDA) Prep. In addition, she has participated in intensives at Alonzo King LINES Ballet, The Martha Graham School, Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Julia performed in Alvin Ailey’s Memoria with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II during the 2022 New York City Center season.  She also performed in Unbroken by Fredrick Earl Mosely at The New York Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, in August 2023. She has performed works by choreographers Rena Butler, Crystal Pite, Kyle Abraham, Alejandro Cerrudo, Rebecca Margolick, Ehizoje Akeze, Mike Tyus and Luca Renzi. Julia aspires to join a professional dance company as well as continuing to work as a graphic artist.
