The Ailey School

Julia Fuchs (Montclair, NJ) began her dance training at Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) and went on to study in The Ailey School’s Junior Division.  While at SMAPA, she was a company member with the Performance Workshop Ensemble where she performed works by Chalvar Montiero, Christopher Huggins, Levi Marsman, and Adrienne Armstrong.  As a student in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, Fuchs performed works by Roderick George and Madison Hicks.  In 2022, Fuchs participated in the Ailey Spirit Gala at Lincoln Center where she learned Robert Battle’s Awakening under the direction of Elisa Clark.  She also performed alongside the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II in Mr. Ailey’s Memoria during the company’s 2022 and 2023 seasons at New York City Center.  Julia spent summers training at the Martha Graham School, GALLIM, The Ailey School, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, as well as programs led by Matthew Rushing, Jennifer Archibald, and Sidra Bell.  Julia could not be more grateful for her time at the Ailey School and is excited to enter the professional world!
