Erin Newton

BFA Program Class of 2024

Erin Newton was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where she danced competitively with Encore Performance Company. She later began dancing at The Alabama Ballet School, where she received accreditations in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus for levels Intermediate-Advanced I under the training of Tracy Alvey and Roger van Fleteran with instruction from Frederick Rocas. She has attended Orsolina28, Perry Mansfield w/ SoulEscape, SALT Link, Gallim, and b12 dance intensives and workshops. Additionally, she has had the opportunity to learn the repertoire of and perform works by Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, Marco Goeke, Ben Wright, Nicole von Arx, Justin Giles, Christian Denice, Rebecca Margolick, and Madison Hicks. During her time as a student, she self-produced the screendance project “Dancing About Architecture: Movement in Context of Designed Spaces” in Berlin, Germany, under the Fordham College at Lincoln Center Undergraduate Research and Creative Practice Grant. She will graduate from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program in 2024 with a BFA in Dance and Visual Arts with a Concentration in Architecture.
