The Ailey School

Born in Miami, Florida and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Amias started dance classes at Brentwood Elementary and has continued dance training since. While at Brentwood, Amias saw the ABC special of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performing Chroma and felt a spark inside. Amias was a dance butterfly and trained at nearly every dance school in the city of Jacksonville: Florida Ballet, Jacksonville Centre of the Arts, Baggs Ballet, and Britney Boyd Dance Company. Amias attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts where he received intensive dance training and was able to practice auditioning and performance skills in Creative Dance Ensemble and Dance Theatre. In 2020, Amias continued his dance training in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, and has had the opportunity to work with Matthew Rushing, Ronni Favors, Tracy Inman, Maleek Washington, Levi Marsman, Rebecca Margolick, Michaela Boscetto, Pedro Ruiz, Flavio Salazar, and Cassandra Phifer. Amias has been privileged to participate in Alvin Ailey's ballets Memoria  and Bird Lives.
