Tamia Heron-Villaroel

Freelance Choreographer

Tamia Heron-Villaroel is from Toronto, ON, Canada where she began dancing at a very early age. She started her training at Dance Inc., where she continued until graduating in 2019 while subsequently traveling throughout Canada and the United States studying with esteemed choreographers. Tamia has taught many dancers, including Team Canada. She has been invited to participate in various intensives including Chapters, in which she performed "Chapters: Vol. 1" directed and choreographed by Talia Favia. As a student in The Ailey School Certificate Program, she has performed multiple ballets by Alvin Ailey as well as works by other choreographers such as “Brink” by Janice Rosario, and “Festa Barocca” by Mauro Bigonzetti, which was performed at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 2022 opening night at New York City Center. Tamia graduated from the Certificate Program in spring 2023. She is now working as a choreographer.
