Sarah Botero

Freelance dancer

Sarah Botero is from North Bergen, NJ. She started dancing at the age of 3 at a local dance school where she trained in various dance styles. She continued her training at the 92nd Street Y on scholarship. Sarah majored in dance at High Tech High School in New Jersey. In her senior year of high school, she enrolled in The Ailey School Junior Division on scholarship. Sarah earned her BFA from SUNY Purchase College, Conservatory of Dance. She subsequently continued her training in The Ailey School Scholarship Program and has had the privilege to be part of the Ailey Student Performance Group. Sarah has also had the opportunity to participate in a dance film by Redha Medjellekh choreographed by Jessica Castro. She has also performed works by Hope Boykin, Ray Mercer, Manuel Vignoulle, Rena Butler, Brice Mousset, Thang Dao, and Bradley Shelver.  Sarah began choreographing in High Tech High School and continued her composition studies in college and her work has been presented in the American Guild Festival. She also has a passion for teaching and hopes to pursue being a dance educator, as well as a having a performing career.
