Sara Erickson

Inclined Dance Project; Smashworks Dance

Sara Erickson began dancing in Oceanside, California at a young age. She started Ballet and Modern training at the Orange County School of the Arts in the Classical and Contemporary Department under the direction of Steven Hyde and Julie Friedrich. Sara later trained under the guidance of Jayne Persch, Theo Ivey, Ariana Gonzales, Stephanie Mehuys, and Tyson Garner while performing with San Diego Unity Dance Ensemble under the direction of Tarua Hall. Sara moved to New York in 2015 to attend the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance, where she has performed in Mr. Ailey’s Memoria for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s 2017 season at New York City Center, The Table of Silence 9/11 Ritual in Lincoln Center directed by Jaclyn Buglisi, and in new works by choreographers such as Amy Hall Garner, Gregory Dolbashian, Nijawwon Matthews, and Stuart Singer. Sara has traveled to southern Mexico with JUNTOS Dance Collective to collaborate, perform, and teach workshops for women, children, and indigenous cultures. Greatly inspired by the intercultural exchange, Sara continued outreach closer to home throughout New York City with the JUNTOS local program. Additionally, Sara has attended summer programs with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Jennifer Archibald’s ArchCore40, River North Dance Chicago, Vim Vigor Dance Company, and Mark Morris Dance Group. Sara is currently performing with Inclined Dance Project under the direction of Kristen Klein, and Smashworks Dance directed by Ashley McQueen. She is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance, class of 2020.
