Naya Hutchinson

Freelance Dancer

Naya Hutchinson is originally from Upper Marlboro, MD. She started her formal dance training at age 5 with the liturgical dance company Spirit Wings, founded and directed by Sandy Mitchell. Naya continued training at the Washington Ballet School with Septime Weber and Lila Seber, and at CityDance Conservatory at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD under the direction of Lorraine Spiegler. While at CityDance Conservatory, Naya performed works by Andrea Miller, Caroline Rocher, Robert J. Priore, Roni Koresh, and Therese Gahl.  Naya has also performed works by Alvin Ailey, Rennie Harris, Daniel Moore, Becky brown, Yoshito Sakuraba, and Frederick Earl Mosley. She has attended summer intensives with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Early Mosley Institute of the Arts. Naya has had the opportunity to dance in the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade where she performed an excerpt the Yellow Section of Alvin Ailey’s "Revelations".  Naya is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program and was the recipient of the 2020 Denise Jefferson Memorial Scholarship. She double-majored in African American Studies and is pursuing her master's degree in Public Media at Fordham University, class of 2022. She hopes to continue her higher education while pursuing a career in a modern/contemporary repertory company.
