Mikalla Ashmore

Mikalla Ashmore was raised in West Palm Beach Florida and began her dance training at Southern Dance Theater at the age of 10. She attended Bak Middle School of the Arts, Florida School for Dance Education, and graduated with honors from Dreyfoos School of the Arts in 2018. Mikalla has worked with artists such as Troy Powell, Christopher Huggins, Elyse Borne, Melissa Rector, Peter Stark, Salim Gauwloos, and Solomon Dumas. She has attended workshops and summer intensives such as Alonzo King Lines Workshop, The Ailey School Summer Intensive, Next Generation Ballet Summer Intensive, and Ballet Hispanico ChoreoLab.  As a member of the Ailey Student Performance Group she has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Thang Dao, Davalois Fearon, Kyle Marshall, Amy Hall Garner, Brice Mousset, and Francesca Harper. Her other performance credits include a dance film by Redha Medjellekh choreographed by Jessica Castro, a Netflix film, and the 2020 Holland Dance Festival in The Netherlands with a select group of students from The Ailey School.  In addition to her dance training, Mikalla has attended the University of Florida as a part-time online student. Mikalla graduated in May 2021 and continues to audition for repertory dance companies and productions.
