Maya Finman-Palmer
Certificate Program class of 2022
Maya Finman-Palmer began her training at Kanopy Dance Academy, in Madison, WI. She has participated in summer dance intensives at The Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico, Jennifer Archibald’s ARCHCORE40, Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, Kanopy Dance Academy, and American Dance Festival. As a student in The Ailey School Certificate Program, she had the opportunity to perform with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in Alvin Ailey’s work ”Memoria” during their 2021 New York City Center Season. She was a soloist in “Prelude & Fugue”, choreography by Lisa Thurrell, which was performed at Next at Graham in New York, May 2018.
Maya has performed works by Patrick Coker, Ross Daniel, Amy Hall Garner, Martha Graham, Bradley Shelver, Helen Simoneau, Judine Somerville, and Hollie Wright. She has taken master classes with Samantha Geracht, Martin Lofsnes, Virginie Mecene, Miki Orihara, and Pascal Rioult. She has been teaching ballet, Horton and Graham for Kanopy Dance Academy since 2018. Maya has benefited greatly by the mentoring of Bradley Shelver, Jermaine Terry, and Sarah Lane. She is a graduate of The Ailey School Certificate Program, class of 2022.
