The Ailey School

Maura Alaoui Mackin was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon. She began dancing at Stillpoint Dance training with Sylvia Bolton and Penny King. She continued training at the School of Oregon Ballet Theater under the direction of Anthony Jones with faculty members Lisa Sundstrom, Alison Roper, and Natasha Bar. In Portland Oregon she performed works by George Balanchine and Anthony Jones at Oregon Ballet Theater and works by Elijah Labay at Northwest Dance Project. During her summers she has trained with Ballet West, Boston Ballet, Northwest Dance Project, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, and The Ailey School.  She attended The Ailey School's Independent Study Program and subsequently joined the Certificate Program. Maura has performed work by Darrell Grand Moultrie, Earl Mosley and Chalvar Monteiro in Diversity of Dance: Dancing Beyond. She has been a member of the Ailey Student Performance Group and is a graduate of The Ailey School’s Certificate Program, class of 2020.
