The Ailey School

Martin Austin was born and raised in San Francisco, California, where he began training at San Francisco Ballet School at the age of 8 on full scholarship as part of their Dance in Schools community outreach program. Later, he became a member of The ODC Dance Jam, a pre-professional teen collective of contemporary dancers under the direction Kimi Okada and Dexandro Montalvo.  Martin has performed the works of Alvin Ailey, Ohad Naharin, Chuck Wilt, Brenda Way, Kimi Okada, KT Nelson, and Arturo Fernandez, among others.  In 2019, Martin began apprenticing for Carolyn Dorfman Dance. He is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, class of 2020.
