Marley Poku-Kankam
Freelance Dancer
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marley started dance classes at the age of 2 at Miss Donna’s School of Dance and continued until she was 13 years old. After finishing her competitive dance career, Marley transitioned to a career in Ballet at Charlotte Ballet Academy under the direction of Ayisha McMillian Cravotta, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, and Patricia McBride. Marley continued her training in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program after attending numerous summer intensives at The Ailey School. She graduated in May 2023 with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Business Administration. Marley has been privileged to participate in works by Tina Bush, Chuck Wilt, Imani Faye, Katie Mayo, Bianca Bonner, Audrey Baran, Sarah Wingo, and Mark Caserta. Marley also attended the Vail Dance Festival as an Artist Services Intern in the summer of 2022, working alongside Damian Wetzel, Heather Watts, and numerous dance companies to bring the festival to the Vail Valley.
