The Ailey School

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Ashley Shukman started her dance training at 11 years old at Los Angeles Ballet Academy under the direction of Andrea Paris-Gutierrez. She performed many ballets including the role of Swanhilda in their production of Coppelia and won several awards at competitions such as Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP). Upon graduation, she completed her Royal Academy of Dance examination with distinction and American Ballet Theater Level 6 examinations. She is a 2023 graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program double majoring in Dance and New Media and Digital Design. During her time at Ailey, she performed works by Helen Simoneau, Ethan Colangelo and Tina Bush. She enhanced her studies at LINES Ballet, Hubbard Street, Complexions Ballet, BODYTRAFFIC, L.A. Contemporary Dance and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary. Ashley is a marketing intern at a fashion marketing agency known as Discontent where she combines her passions for dance, creativity, digital media, entrepreneurship
