Alexander Haquia

Ballet Hispánico

Alexander Haquia, of mixed Cuban and Portuguese descent, grew up in Morris County, New Jersey and began his dance training at Nicole’s Broadway Dance Company at the age of 15 under the direction of Ashley Hosbach and the tutelage of choreographer Tracy Badini.  While he was a college student, he taught dance at Northeast Dance Project and Juntos while pursuing his own dance training through intensive workshops at The Ailey School, Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, Gibney, and City Center with Twyla Tharp.  He has worked with choreographers such as Francesca Harper, Matthew Rushing, Twyla Tharp, Ray Mercer, Yusha Marie Sorzano, and Pedro Ruiz.  He is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program with a BFA in Dance and minor in Latin American and Latinx Studies.  Alexander is currently a Ballet Hispánico company member.
