Thank you for your outpouring of support!

Posted September 23, 2020

We hope you and your families remain safe and healthy. While this time continues to test us all, it also continues to reinforce our perseverance, humanity, creative courage, and deep commitment to each other. We are grateful to all the Ailey fans and donors who have danced along with us during this challenging year. As the summer comes to a close, we’d like to share how your support has sustained the Ailey organization and continues to allow us to maintain so many of our vital programs.

Scroll down to see how we’ve been able to carry on Mr. Ailey’s legacy of delivering dance to the people, demonstrating the importance of the Ailey mission and showing how the beauty and power of dance can uplift the human spirit. Stay safe and stay well.

Online Streaming of Ballets

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has shared its artistry, strength, and beauty through the streaming of full-length works, behind-the-scenes content, and live conversations, which have been viewed by more than 10 million people in 121 countries to date during the first five months of our “Ailey All Access” online programming.

The Ailey School

The Ailey School delivered online classes during the spring and summer to students in both the Professional and Junior Divisions. This fall semester, Professional Division classes are held in person at the Ailey Studios, while Junior Division will utilize a hybrid model with remote classes during the week and in-person classes on Saturdays.

Virtual Ailey Camp

Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs continue to engage young people through digital offerings including the first-ever virtual AileyCamp over the summer, reaching approximately 300 youth through four-week camps in six cities: Baltimore, Kansas City (Kansas and Missouri combined), Miami, New York City, Newark, and Seattle.

Ailey Extension

Ailey Extension continues to offer “real classes for real people” with 32 virtual classes per week in a variety of techniques and styles. Don't miss out on taking class with your favorite instructor or trying something new. Even though we are not able to offer in person classes yet, we want to make sure you can keep dancing.
