Shaw Bronner

Director of Physical Therapy Services

Shaw Bronner, PT, PhD, OCS, started her career as a dancer, performing nationally and internationally with several modern dance companies. Dr. Bronner earned her PhD at Rutgers University in rehabilitation and movement sciences and did her physical therapy training at SUNY Downstate. She is certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and has worked as a specialist in dance physical therapy for over 20 years.  As director of Physical Therapy Services at the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, she developed the in-house physical therapy program for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, and The Ailey School. She also teaches Anatomy-Kinesiology in the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program.

Dr. Bronner is Director of the ADAM Center, a research laboratory dedicated to the study of human movement and dance. She has published over 100 articles and frequently presents at national and international forums. She serves as Associate Editor at two journals: Medical Problems of Performing Artists and Journal of Dance Medicine and Science.
