Olivier Medus

Olivier Medus began his dance training at the age of seven at the Conservatory of Music, Dance and Theatre of French Guiana under the direction of Frederique Edwige. He later trained under the guidance of Jeanine Verin at The Adaclam School. He has received several gold prizes for regional and national competition organized by the “Conféderation National de Danse”.  He was awarded the President's Medal of Honor in recognition of his contribution to dance from the president of French Guiana.

Olivier trained at The Ailey School as a recipient of the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship and was subsequently invited to join Ailey II, with whom he toured nationally and internationally. Additionally, he was among a select group of students chosen to perform with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater during their New York seasons at Lincoln Center and City Center.  He has been featured on Bulgarian TV, "Dancing with the Stars" as a guest performer, and in television commercials for Mercedez and MtvU.

He has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, the Apollo Theater in New York, and with Forces of Nature Dance Theater, New York Dance Lab, and Tania Perez Salas Dance Company. He also appeared in Disney’s Once Upon A Holiday.  Olivier served as dance captain for Norwegian Cruise Line’s production of the Broadway Show After Midnight. He also performed in Havana directed by Tony Award winning choreographer, Warren Carlyle.  He is on the Junior Division faculty at The Ailey School where he teaches a modern dance class that incorporates a fusion of the Horton technique and Afro-Caribbean movement. He has also taught throughout the United States, Europe and South America. In September 2019, Olivier made make his debut in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess, choreographed by Tony-Award nominee, Camille A. Brown.
