Brown’s signature solo, set for the first time as a trio for other dancers, explores notions of femininity with humor and candor.
The women in Camille A. Brown’s witty portrait veer between uncertainty and carefree confidence as they groove and saunter to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Carter and Nancy Wilson. In her second work staged for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (2007’s The Groove To Nobody’s Business featured the music of Ray Charles), Brown again proves herself a gifted storyteller with a flair for keen observations of everyday life.
