Vic DiMonda is an accomplished SDC Stage Director and Choreographer who has performed, directed and choreographed in various venues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Europe and The Far East. He has created original productions of Tick, Tick, Boom!, Isabelle and the Pretty-Ugly Spell, The King and I, My Fair Lady, Carousel, High Society, Always…Patsy Cline, Dames At Sea, Forever Plaid, The Fantasticks, Annie, Blues In The Night, The All Night Strut, The Taffetas, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. As a choreographer Mr. DiMonda recreated the Broadway choreography for Crazy For You as well as original works for Miss Saigon, West Side Story, A Wonderful Life, Oliver!, The Music Man, Fiddler On The Roof, How To Succeed…, Kiss Me, Kate, Mame, Funny Girl, Cinderella, Do I Hear A Waltz?, and Annie. Mr. DiMonda is also an accomplished Fight Choreographer and has worked with actors in plays such as Dial M For Murder, The Fantasticks, and The Actor’s Fans.
A classically trained actor and an accomplished dancer, Mr. DiMonda has been teaching professional dancers and actors for over 15 years. He has created techniques that blend the two art forms in ways that are rarely seen in the industry or in the classroom, fostering a nurturing yet disciplined environment that gives performing artists in both of these disciplines the opportunity to develop the physical and emotional skills of their respective crafts.
Mr. DiMonda currently serves as the Associate Producing Director for the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport, Long Island’s only year round Equity theater, where he directed and choreographed an inaugural production of Smokey Joe’s Café. He founded and served as Artistic Director for the Harkness Dance Center’s Tap Team and been a faculty member of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and an artist in residence for the Metropolitan Opera Guild where he taught the Creating Original Opera program. He is on the faculty at The Ailey School and the Ailey Extension.
