Choreographic Artist Stefanie Batten Bland is a 2016 Schonberg Fellow, 2015 Kevin Spacey Foundation Artists Choice Awardee, 2014/15 Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation New Directions Choreography Lab Fellow, 2014 Joffrey Ballet Choreographer of Color, 2010-2012 Baryshnikov Arts Center Resident Artist and Jerome Robbins NEW Fellow.
In 2008, while head choreographer of the Paris Opera Comique, Stefanie founded Company SBB so that she might better investigate the human condition and relationships within the natural world. Her works for stage, spaces and film have performed throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. Her commissions include Transitions Dance Company of London, Danceland of Singapore, Zenon Dance Company and Ailey ll. Ms. Batten Bland has danced for Bill T. Jones, Sean Curran, Lar Lubovitch, Angelin Preljocaj, Julie Taymor, Pina Bausch among others and currently performs for PunchDrunk in SleepNoMore.
