Jessica Danser is a native New Yorker, holds a B.F.A. cum laude in Dance Composition from SUNY Purchase, was a 5-time Fellowship recipient at the Ailey School, and graduated Salutatorian from Talent Unlimited High School, where she studied dance under Mary Barnett. Her performance credits include Judith Jamison’s “Hymn” at City Center with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She founded Jessica Danser/Dansfolk, a contemporary dance company, in 2005. She is the recipient of a Bronx Recognizes Its Own award for choreography, and has received grants from the Bronx Council on the Arts, the Puffin Foundation, and the Astraea Foundation. Ms. Danser was an assistant teacher at the Ailey School from 1999-2005, and was promoted to faculty in 2006.
