Gianna Theodore fostered her love for dance in West Palm Beach Florida, at Ballet East (formerly known as Susan Lyle Studios). She later went on to graduate from A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts where she trained in ballet, Horton, and composition. Soon after, she moved to New York City, and obtained her BFA in dance with the Ailey School/Fordham University. While training in school, Gianna worked part-time as a freelance artist, performing with Helen Simoneau Danse, Mark Caserta, Ebony Williams, and Maleek Washington. In 2019, she joined Kyle Abraham’s A.I.M, and has been touring and performing with the company since. Dancing and creating has allowed Gianna’s love for choreographing to grow. She is a recent Artist in Residence with Chez Bushwick and MOTIVE Brooklyn, and continues to be a collaborator and movement director throughout her artistic journey. Gianna has also trained rigorously over the years in house, hip hop, and other street styles that have greatly influenced her movement quality and amplified her love for dance. She is thrilled to continue creating and is forever grateful for the New York Dance Community for all of it’s generosity and support.
