Endowment Funds

Designate a Legacy

The Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation Endowment was created to preserve Ailey's vibrant and dynamic programs in perpetuity.  Your gift through The Ailey Legacy Circle, dedicated to one of the following funds, will assure a focused and lasting impact for generations- a legacy that will always endure.

The New Works Endowment Fund

Maintains one of the most diverse repertories in modern dance by annually creating and presenting a full complement of world premieres by both emerging and master choreographers, revivals of important works from Ailey's past, and productions of established works that are new to the company.

The AileyCamp Endowment Fund

Supports an innovative six-week summer day camp that stretches the bodies and minds of inner-city children ages 11-14 through disciplined dance training, creative writing instruction, personal development and communication workshops, and recreational and cultural field trips.

The Scholarship Program Endowment Fund

Ensures that the gifted young people who will become tomorrow's professional dancers receive the level of training they need and deserve, regardless of their income.  The Ailey School offers part- and full-time scholarships to gifted but disadvantaged students, 70% of whom are from minority populations, so that all may have the opportunity to explore the beauty and power of dance.

The Arts In Education Fund

Focuses on vital programs for young people across the country, such as: AileyDance Kids, where public school students work with Ailey instructors and attend Ailey performances; Lecture-Demonstrations, opening an introductory window to the world of dance; In-School Residencies, that allow public school teachers to collaborate with Ailey teaching artists to design programs that link dance instruction to academic curricula.

The Ailey II Endowment Fund

Builds a bridge from studio to stage for 12 of the most gifted students from The Ailey School and reaches out to develop new dance audiences.  Ailey II has won praise for a varied repertoire, national tours to diverse communities, residencies at major universities, and frequent visits to public schools in the metropolitan area- serving over 100,000 annually.

The Ailey School Endowment Fund

Strives to develop technically well-rounded dancers through The Ailey School's highly regarded curriculum of over 300 classes weekly in Horton, Graham-based modern classical ballet, jazz, tap, dance academics, repertory and body conditioning taught by instructors who are established leaders in their fields.

The Artists-in-Residence Endowment Fund

Features established choreographers who teach classes, lead workshops and set new works on The Ailey School students, exposing them to diverse styles, methodology and achievements of noted professionals in the field from around the world.

General Operating Expenses Endowment Fund

Will help Ailey remain at the forefront of American performing arts in inspiring audiences, nurturing students and helping successive generations of dancers and choreographers to evolve through the operation of Ailey's center for dance.
