Special Events

Special events play an integral role in Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation’s annual fundraising efforts.  The Ailey organization hosts three fundraising galas each year, attracting luminaries in business, philanthropy, and entertainment from around the globe.  Each gala celebrates the superb artistry of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater while providing a festive backdrop to raise necessary funds to support Ailey's vital programs.

Opening Night Gala Benefit at New York City Center

Our Opening Night Gala kicks off Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s annual five week season in New York City.  Proceeds benefit the Ailey organization’s vital educational programs – including AileyCamp, scholarships to The Ailey School, and public school residencies.

Washington, D.C. Gala at The Kennedy Center

Our Washington D.C. Gala supports Ailey's local D.C. outreach programs and provides scholarships for talented students in the Washington area to attend The Ailey School in New York.

Ailey at the Apollo Gala

Our event at the historic Apollo Theater features Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, and students from The Ailey School.  Proceeds provide vitally-needed scholarships for talented students of The Ailey School and support Ailey's Arts In Education and Community Programs.
