The Ailey School

Lynn Glauber-Mandel, a native of Buffalo, NY, began her training at the Ballet Center of Buffalo directed by Kathleen Crofton. In 1970, she was awarded a full scholarship to the Joffrey School in NYC. In 1971, she joined the Maurice Béjart's Ballet of the Twentieth Century in Belgium as the youngest member of the company. During Ms. Glauber’s tenure in the Company, Béjart created six ballets especially for her. She also danced in many leading roles worldwide; her favorite being Romeo's "Juilliet." Ms. Glauber returned to the U.S. in 1977 joining the Joffrey Ballet dancing principal roles created by notable choreographers including Anthony Tudor, Robert Joffrey, Gerald Arpino, John Cranko, Agnes DeMille, Glen Tetley, and Sir Frederick Franklin. She also appeared in ballet galas, musical theater and television in the United States and abroad. Her teaching credits include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey ll, Ballet Academy East, Elliot Feld School, New Jersey Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet School, American Theater Dance Summer Workshop, Jacob's Pillow, National Ballet of Prague, in addition to being teacher and ballet mistress for the Ballet Hispanico, Universal Ballet, Korea, & Bat D'or, Israel. She is currently teacher and co-chair of the ballet department for The Ailey School’s Professional Division and on staff at Marymount Manhattan College.
