Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Alison Mixon began her passion for dance as a scholarship student at the School of Cleveland San Jose Ballet, School of American Ballet, Chautauqua Institution, and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet School. In 2003, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Juilliard School. Her performance credits include: Dance Flick, The Wiz, Carmen, The Merry Widow, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Can Can, Aida, Aladdin: The Musical Spectacular, BodyTraffic, Collaboration Movement, Malashock Dance, and Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers. Ms. Mixon also judges for Celebrity Dance Competitions and Beyond The Stars Dance Competitions nationwide. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, American Guild of Musical Artists, and American Guild of Variety Artists.
In addition to performing, Ms. Mixon adores teaching ballet. She believes every student has the potential to become an accomplished dancer with the guidance of a nurturing and supportive teacher. Ms. Mixon prides herself on the individual attention she gives to each student and insists on a learning environment that is instructive, engaging, inspiring, and, most of all, fun! Her teaching credits include: The Ailey Extension, Alvin Ailey Arts in Education & AileyCamp, Harlem School of the Arts, Stage Coach Theatre Arts Schools, Professional Center for the Arts, Five Star Dance Center, Ballet Arts, Columbia Performing Arts Centre, New Dance Group and MUSE Dance.
