Nathaniel Hunt

Adjunct Professor, Long Island University Brooklyn Campus; Ailey II (2014-2016)

Nathaniel Hunt (Glen Burnie, MD) began his dance training at Glen Burnie High School and continued his studies at Design In Motion Dance Studio in Gambrills, MD, and Spotlight Studio of Dance in Millersville, MD. He graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Dance from Long Island University, Brooklyn. Nathaniel is a recipient of the Maryland Distinguished Scholar of the Arts Award, the Alvin Ailey Scholarship Award, and the Award for Excellence in the Arts Program from the National Society of Arts and Letters (in association with The Kennedy Center).

Nathaniel attended the Scholarship Program at The Ailey School, Earl Mosley’s Institute for the Arts, and the Joffrey Ballet School as well as The School at Jacob’s Pillow and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet’s 360˚ Program. He has performed works by Ronald K. Brown, Alexandra Damiani, Manuel Vignoulle, Larry Keigwin, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa among many others. He has performed professionally with Adaptations Dance Theater, Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, Maria Bauman's MBDance, and has been a rehearsal director/assistant for Hope Boykin Dance. He was a member of Ailey II and Ballet Hispanico.

As an educator and creator, Nathaniel has taught and choreographed at dance studios, high schools, and collegiate institutions around the world. His guest artist teaching/residency highlights include Bucknell University, Long Island University - Brooklyn, Santa Fe College, Maui Performing Arts Academy, amidst others. His choreography was selected to be performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. at the National College Dance Festival in 2012. He has worked closely with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Rehearsal Director and Guest Artist, Matthew Rushing, inlcuding helping to set works on students of The Ailey School and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He continues to perform diverse repertory, educate aspiring dancers, and create innovative work that strives to inspire, encourage, and connect with many audiences worldwide.
