Ailey Experience Tour: D.C.
Presented in Partnership with the Duke Ellington School of the Arts
Saturday, February 24 & Sunday, February 25, 2024
The Ailey Experience workshops are designed to expand on Alvin Ailey's life-long commitment to bring dance back to the people by providing young dancers of all experience levels the opportunity to study with leading Ailey instructors and former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company members in their hometown. Students will train in a variety of techniques while learning the rich history of Ailey’s signature style and how he changed the perception of American modern dance.
This year in Washington, D.C., we are thrilled to be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. In celebration, Amos Machanic will be teaching special workshops to honor the longtime collaboration between Alvin Ailey and Duke Ellington in which students will learn choreography from iconic ballets choreographed by Alvin Ailey with music composed by Duke Ellington.
No dance experience or audition is required—all levels are welcomed!
