The audition is a 60-minute class instructed by Fabrice Herrault.

9:00am Audition 
Advanced level (ages 15–19) registration begins at 8:30am

10:00am Audition 
Intermediate / Advanced level (ages 10 - 16) registration begins at 9:30am

If you are unable to attend an audition, please contact Fabriceballet@alvinailey.org with the following information:  Student name, age, years of training, current instructor’s name and two photos – one in arabesque and one in tendu a la seconde.

All sales are final. No refunds are provided for auditions regardless of attendance.

Requirements:

  • Pointe work required for ladies
  • Advanced level must have a minimum of 3 years of pointe experience
  • Intermediate / Advanced level must have a minimum of 2 years of pointe experience
  • Advanced Beginner level must have a minimum of 1 year of pointe experience

 

Audition Dress Code

Please be dressed appropriately with classic ballet attire.

Women: plain black leotard, pink or light colored tights (no black tights), ballet slippers, and pointe shoes with secured ribbons and elastics (if trained in pointe). No skirts, socks, sweat pants or bulky sweaters.

Men: tee shirt or leotard, tights, and ballet slippers. No sweat pants, bulky sweaters or bulky socks.

 

Instructor

Fabrice Herrault
Began classical training with Daniel Franck at Académie Chaptal in Paris before enrolling in L'Ecole de Danse de l'Opéra de Paris, under Claude Bessy. Graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under Serge Golovine and Attilio Labis. Has danced with Le Jeune Ballet de France, Hamburg Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Les Ballets de Marseille (under the direction of Roland Petit), Twyla Tharp and Dancers, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Has appeared on film and television in La Dame aux Camelias with the Hamburg Ballet, and with Twyla Tharp and Dancers in In the Upper Room on PBS's Dance in America series. Has taught at Barnard College, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive, Miami City Ballet Summer Intensive, and the New York International Ballet Competition. Current ballet faculty, Steps on Broadway, N.Y.C and The Julliard School.  This is the 3rd year Mr. Herrault is offering his Ballet Intensive here at The Ailey Extension.

Suggested Attire

Ladies may wear ballet tights and leotards, or bike shorts, or tight-fitting yoga pants, form-fitting tee shirt, hair tied back or up. Ballet shoes are required. Gentlemen may wear ballet tights, or bike shorts, or tight-fitting yoga pants, form-fitting tee, and ballet shoes. If you are a first time student, you may be permitted to wear socks.
