Born and raised in Venezuela, Samuel came to New York City over a decade ago to set new roots. One morning in October of 2007, Samuel’s life as he knew it changed forever. While watching a segment of NBC's The Today Show, Samuel got his first glimpse of the new fitness phenomenon, Zumba Fitness when the founder Beto Perez was demonstrating a salsa/reggaeton routine with such passion and excitement that at that very instance he jumped out of the couch and said to himself "That's what I want to do". Samuel quickly signed up for several Zumba instructor trainings and with a lot of hard work and dedication he started teaching in May 2008. Two years later he was selected to become a Zumba Jammer ™ (Choreography Specialist for Zumba Instructors) in October of 2010 and now travels to present special choreography sessions for other Zumba Fitness Instructors around the USA, Europe and Asia. Also to his credit, Samuel has been featured in several newspaper articles and on New York’s affiliate Fox Five News, ABC 7 Eyewitness News and E! News. However, his proudest achievement as a Zumba Fitness Instructor was raisng over $35,000 for breast cancer awareness, over the last five consecutive years for the Susan Komen Greater NYC Foundation by holding a Zumba Fitness Master Class Fundraiser at several NYC venues.
Sam’s qualifications include AFAA Group Exercise Instructor, Licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor, including Aqua Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids and Kids Jr. licenses, Tabata Bootcamp™ Trainer certified, R.I.P.P.E.D Instructor certified and Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED certified.
