Ailey at Lincoln Center

Ailey Returns to Lincoln Center: June 11-22

After a triumphant 2013 season, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to Lincoln Center in June for two weeks only.  Choose from four programs that demonstrate the Company’s phenomenal artistic range and universal appeal.  Featured works include The Pleasure of the Lesson, a world premiere by Robert Moses – known for sexy, sophisticated choreography that makes audiences want to dance, too – as well as a new production of Hans van Manen’s Polish Pieces, David Parsons’ signature work Caught, and the rare opportunity to see Asadata Dafora’s groundbreaking 1932 solo Awassa Astrige/Ostrich.  Other highlights include an encore of Wayne McGregor’s Chroma, the “Ailey/Ellington” program, and Mr. Ailey’s masterpiece Revelations

Revelations Workshops at the Ailey Extension

Alvin Ailey’s Revelations is the world’s most popular work of modern dance. This month, the Ailey Extension offers the rare opportunity to learn excerpts of the choreography and hear behind-the-scenes stories about its creation from two former Ailey principal dancers who knew Mr. Ailey well, Sylvia Waters and Donna Wood Sanders. Live music will be an integral part of these workshops.

Workshop with Sylvia Waters: Mon June 9 from 7:30-9pm
Workshop with Donna Wood Sanders: Mon June 16 from 7-8:30pm
